I'll personally fly half way around the world and clean anyones house if they find my William Huband. Good tip for cleaning/sorting cupboards. Get six year old grandkids over. They want to take all sorts of junk home. Just let them fill garbage bags(clean ones are best) with all that old stuff. Paper, pencils, bits of wool, lace, odd socks, the whole lot goes. I've got two EMPTY shelves.

Old Crone, you can have the toy boy Michael, you probably need that extra warmth. Glen is twice the man (well, twice the age) and very obedient - the young ones could be a bit feisty. And size 14 trainers - well, you know what they say about men with big feet - yep, they need big shoes. I buy Glen's footwear in the sales at toys r us - they are meant for Cabbage Patch Dolls but are a perfect fit.

Do you really think Roger's human? Ive not come across a man like that in my lifetime - I suppose he could be an alien.

I wonder what the GC in his board name stands for? Merry

Heather As Michael will only henceforth be wearing damp dusters on his feet I am not concerned with the cost of his footwear, being the happy possessor of at least four wardrobes full of outdated clothes which are no better than dusters. The size of his feet attracted me because of his floor coverage, nothing else. As for that Roger, yes, mm, is his surname really Mitty, do you think? OC

Margaret Report 30 Jun 2006 14:31

Heather HELP!!! I think I'm going to need councelling. My uncle and aunt are visiting us this evening. I can't put them off as they have been wanting to see hubby ever since he came out of hospital. I had to do Emergency Housework!! (sorry for swearing) I've been running round the house like an idiot, dusting, cleaning the bathroom, hoovering etc. I feel quite ill. LOL Margaret

****sends emergency strawberry delivery**** Tell them you have an allergy to light and close all the curtains and have just a couple of candles for lighting......they won't notice the dust then....... Merry

Margaret Report 30 Jun 2006 15:01

Merry I've had a quick flick round with one of those fluffy dusters. It'll do. Hopefully if its a nice evening we can sit outside. Cooler than in the house. (And no dust) Thanks for the strawberrys Margaret

I have a friend coming to stay, in less than a fortnight. She is a member of the International Super Housewives Corps and I am absolutely dreading her visit. But I still havent got into panic mode yet. In ten days time (probably) I will be dementedly washing curtains, power washing the conservatory, gathering up ropes of cobwebs etc. (And coincidentally, I hope, shedding the half a stone which has crept up on me due to long periods of phyical inactivity spent on here) OC

lol - forgot you used to be one of those!! Suggest you tell her you have particularly got the house dirty in the last 24 hours to see how good she is at cleaning......then let her come and remove the last 10 years worth of dirt! Merry

An Olde Crone Report 30 Jun 2006 15:29

No no! She has a terrible aversion to clutter and will throw out all my bits of paper and go through my knicker drawer...I really dont want anyone going through my drawers at my age. OC

Sarah Report 30 Jun 2006 16:11

Oh no OC don't let her do that!!! I had a friend stay when we lived in the middle east & she helped around the house & one day (oh horrors!) she emptied the tumble dryer & saw my horrid knickers - a small comment was passed & when she got back to England she sent me 2 x 7packs from M&S (the worst thing is that that was about 6 years ago & ..........****in a very small voice***** .....I've still got them!!! Sarah :-)

Heather Report 30 Jun 2006 16:33

OC, Id tell her youve moved since you last spoke and then rent a fully fitted show house on a new development promising them you will buy it once youve tried it out for your life style. After mate goes tell them that its not up to your usual standard of living.

Sarah Report 30 Jun 2006 16:36

Heather - I really marvel at your resourcefulness!! I'm not surprised that you have a stableful of 'house-glens' in tinsel pants dashing around in their size 14 socks polishing your floors!! So when are you inviting me over to check it out?? sarah :-)

Merry Monty

Merry Monty Report 30 Jun 2006 16:50

Sarah - six-year-old knicks is nothing!! Positively NEW! lol I've still got some from before I met hubby and that's almost 20 years! lol!! I have a jumper I wear often, which was bought for my 12th birthday and was the first piece of adult clothing I ever owned.....(it was too big when I was given it!!) Merry

Margaret Report 30 Jun 2006 22:21

Drat Spent this morning frantically cleaning cause uncle and aunt were visiting and we sat outside in the garden all night. They only popped in the house for a few seconds, didnt even use the loo and I made a really good job of that. Oh well its done now, for a good few weeks Margaret

Olgiza Report 30 Jun 2006 22:31

Honest, i'm real. Was up at 5.30 because it was too warm to sleep so I baked a loaf of bread. Walked down to Tesco's when they opened and got a couple of bits and then came home to make some houmous. (Is that how you spell it)? Vacuumed upstairs and cleaned the cupboard tops in the kitchen. You should have seen the muck up there...I am so ashamed. This pm after a walk with OH we did some dead heading in the garden. OH put the washing on and it all dried today so I was able to pair up some socks, fold them and put them in the airing cupboard. Just updated my FT programme and read the boards. We didn't get off to take photographs of rellies cottages down in Devon. Thought we could do that next week and combine it with a nice pub lunch and a stroll around the graveyard. Just had a look at the mess in this room and can assure you that I am very real. Its all a routine, boring but safe when you get to be older than Merry and probably even older than the Old Crone herself. Roger GC GC is for genes connected, the name that they gave this site before they decided that we all voted to change it! Surname is Whybrew also spellings of Wibrow, Wibrew, Wybrow, Wybrew, Wyborough, Whybrow etc etc.

Heather Report 30 Jun 2006 23:11

Roger, hope the OH appreciates you.
