Jane

Jane Report 27 Jul 2006 20:19

glad you're getting on ok with it......... if there is a name / place you're not sure of, as a general rule use _ in place of one letter, and * in place of several letters. and if you think for eg, its an l or t, use [lt] or maybe c or another letter, then use [c_] in the middle of the word where you are not sure of. hope that makes sense, and keep up the good work !! Jane x

TED Yes I agree its a bit hard on the eyes but I just zoom in on any odd spellings and try and work it out that way.. Im having great fun doing it and do quite a few pages at a time when I start.... Hope you manage to save up enough cash to get yourself a bigger monitor.... that for me is at the bottom of my ''Things I need'' list so It will have to wait and I will just have to stare harder at the screen lol Lesley :~)

Mavis Do I just put in the letters I can read and a * for what I cant read then is that what they told you? Lesley :~)

Ted

lesley, hi, its quite easy, in fact very, onceyou get used to it, but unless you have a decent size monitor its really bad on the eyes and you need to take lots of time away from the screen. It also gets very monotonous. Ive been doing the Births for LPOOL but like I said the monitor with my pc is a 15 inch old fashioned thing, and until I get at 17inch at least ive had to give it a rest, making my eyes very tired. Saything that, its well worth doing it, because without the volunteers there wouldnt be much on the internet to tempt family research, god bless them all. TED. hoping to get something sorted next week, once ive save up the cash.

Sylvia If you look on your members page then look at your open assignments list. The first column is what info it is eg your first one is 58 = Year 1858 b = Births 1 = !st Quarter (march) T = Surnames First letter 0099 = Page number or Batch Number. On the left hand side of the screen is a Main Menu screen click on Help Menu then click on No.30 in list training instructions for Scan2 and Print it off...it is 6 pages long but worth while printing then you can look at it anytime for reference...
