hi Dea, Was Lambeth, when it should be Lambert, but as you say could still be the one. Know what I think peeps I reckon Richard told the vicar his fathers name was Carthaliner, the Vicar shortened it to Linah as he didn't know how to spell Carthaliner!! The name on the cert could easily read Linah, my mum thought it read Linas orignally What do you all think? I am heading off out to the garden centre for a while will check back in later xx

hey everyone, Dea where are you finding this info from? you little star you! other witness was Harriott Cooper, wonder who she was! I have e-mailed the gwent RO and thrown myself at their mercy!! Did as Merry suggested and said the so called experts at the GRO had not been able to read it, that should fire em up!! One piece of good news, I managed to decipher Gwens certificate with the help of ancestry marriage records, mans name was Hatton Samual G Cox how grand!!! woman he married we knew was ellen something, but unreadable from the certificate, found it to be Thain, and yes when you look at cert again you can see it!! So at least I have managed to sort out one problem today, even if it isn't mine!!

*** Fuzzy Report 8 Jun 2006 08:44

Was desperate to get on the computer last night, but eldest child insisted that his revision for his GCSE's was more important than my obssession with dead people!!! Elizabeth I too am convinced it says LINAH, dont know if you looked at the thread earlier, but Richard Lamberts father I am sure was Carthaliner, think the poor old vic could have been a bit hard of hearing and put down Linah!! thanks so much for looking I really appreciate it. I cant find a Linah Lambert on the census though or a Carthalina or anything similar, perhaps he was the D word by 1841, would it have stated on the marriage cert that the father was deceased? I know it did in later years. Dea, You are such a star, I cant thank you enough for all your efforts, and knowing that you are not alone trying to solve these problems on your own is a wonderful feeling! I am following Richard Lambert 1811, he was actually born in LLandogo, hope to catch you later. I must get on with the housework, think husband is on the verge of divorcing me, once house proud me is a thing of the past!!!

Another of the siblings of Richard Lambert was Samuel, bap 1809 in Llandogo. Here he is in 1861 John Wattis Lambert abt 1861 Wookey Holl, Somerset, England Son Wells St Cuthbert Out Somerset Reberta Lambert abt 1859 Wookey Holl, Somerset, England Daughter Wells St Cuthbert Out Somerset >>>>Samuel Lambert abt 1812 Monmouthshire, Wales Head Wells St Cuthbert Out Somerset Sarah Lambert abt 1829 Somerset, England Wife Wells St Cuthbert Out Somerset Sydney Lambert abt 1857 Worcestershire, England Son Wells St Cuthbert Out Somerset Note he has a son named Sydney. Housework??? The place is falling about my ears....I have found that if you keep your eyes fixed on the computer screen you don't notice anything else too much! Merry

Oh LOL Dea......will you get a share of the riches though???? Entries from Ancestry One World Tree: Lambert, Catholina 28 MAR 1834 Gooseye, N. Keighley, Yorkshire, England Parents Samuel Lambery and Mary Ann Nichol Entry says that one died in New York in 1923 Lambert, Catholina A. 13 JUN 1905 , , NY Parents Walter Stanley Lambert and Ida Batsford Lord Entry says died in 1970 in New Jersey. Also says that the dad, Walter Stanley is the son of the Catholina born 1834 in Yorkshire (which is the same one Dea found in 1841 census, I would imagine) Merryerry

Merry Report 8 Jun 2006 12:03

The man mentioned on all the websites as rich Cathalina's father (Samuel - paper miller) is the same Samuel I posted from the 1861 census who had a grandson also called Cathalina. Samuel was married twice. First to Mary Ann (listed as Ann in 1841 and 1851) and secondly to Sarah who he is with from 1861 onwards. Well, I think so, anyway.....would need proper checking! Merry
