Bev Since our families seem to cross a bit, have your Stretton's married a Ward 1890's, have an Eliza Stretton as a marriage witness and am sure it will turn out to be Elizabeth Ward, just not had time to look properly yet. ALSO Bev, have you or are you looking for a marriage between John Cook c 1820 born Shilton and Elizabeth c 1818 born St Margs, Leics Elaine

Hi Mike, I wondered if you could help me solve a problem again. My grandfather was Isaac Ernest Blackwell, born in Shepshed in 1875 (I think) He appears on the 1881 census aged 6 living at the Old Plough Inn, Hallgate, Shepshed, with the rest of the family. He married in 1898 (Dec 26) and his age shows as 24 (from marriage cert) 1891 census is a servant in Barkby and on the 1901 he his married and living in Sandiacre, Derbys. I have gone through from 1870 to 1879 on Ancestry Beta and cannot find the details of his birth registration. I have found all of the other siblings. He died in 1938 and the reg details show his birth year as 1875 Can you suggest any other way of finding the birth info. Regards Marlene

Hi All, My Grandfather on my Father's side, Alfred Webber, had at least one shop in Leicester during the 1920/30s I think. His occupation is shown as General Shopkeeper on my parents marriage certificate from 1949 although I don't think he still had any shops by then. I have been told that one shop was in Fleet St. This by my cousin, whose grandparents, the PIlgrims, had an opposition shop in the same street. Does anybody have any information on either the Webber or Pilgim shops? Paul
