Merry Report 31 Dec 2005 19:21

Glad you reached home OK Grumpy......I'm sure the tinsel marks will have worn off by next C-mas... Jess, I have found a Radio Rentals shop in Gloucester with a whole bank of screens in the window..........I have found if you park in the doorway it's quite warm because of all the electricity they're burning..... I have made some parsnip soup and hot rolls to have with our Lambrusco....... Four hours and 20 mins to go! After midnight I may decide to drive on towards Northampton (better dilute the Lambrusco a bit LOL), but you can stay asleep in the back if you like?? Merry

have arrived home at last. frost bite on my bum, those tinsel g strings really leave their mark. lol. wellies are now dripping upside down to dry out and i lost the tesco trolley somewhere around scotch corner. Amazing how that punch of olde crones keeps you going. and i did finish the sprouts, but not without a fight, the seagull population kept following me waiting for me to loose my concentration. sorry i missed everyone. if were doing this next year will have to start off a lot sooner. i dont do map reading you know. Anyway wishing you all a wonderful and healthy and prosperous new year. god bless. xxx

Merry Report 31 Dec 2005 17:14

Bye Beryl, Bye Tina......glad we didn't need the string in the end.....my granny knots have all untied.............. Hope Tina was wearing her armbands????? ............................... ................................ Jess, if we are ever going to get to the top of this hill, I am going to need you to push a bit harder.........maybe if Bobbin joined the huskies, rather than lounging about in the top box, we would actually reach Gloucester??? You know that have added an extra second to 2005?.........does anyone know if someone will be hanging from the minute hand of Big Ben tonight to hold it back a bit, or is someone adding a couple of old pennies to the pendulum to slow it a bit?? Maybe there's a TV shop in Gloucester where we can watch through the window?? I have a bottle of Lambrusco, as we have now run out of Champers, following the job success!! Merry (very! hic)

.......................................................................................................................... Have I overslept??? Jess??????....................................................Jess.....????..................Jess?? Oh there you are.....we must get cracking now.....I loaded up the bottom roof box last night, making sure any left over C-mas presents stay in OC's shed, just in case she needs an emergency Birthday pressie during the year......the last jar of Kumquats and three packs of Narcissus, Banana and Pine flavoured bath cubes.....that should sort her........... I have stolen some provisions for the journey, so we can set off now.....come on Bobbin, come on Jess.....and OFF WE GO.......... Next stop, Gloucester, for our tea............ Merry

So its time to head home - maybe as well, perhaps given the time we have been away our nearest and dearest will have missed us and show their appreciation more~ fat chance I hear you all cry! No, Tina, I didnt slip anything in her sherry ~ believe you me , if i had, she wouldnt be here to tell the tale, let alone have a change of heart. ~ No cant have had a change of heart , she hasn't got a heart! Crone ~ as long as we aim to pick off the do-do when it is frozen we'll be fine.In case any hit her car we'll need to return via a volvo garage and purchase a genuine Volvo wing mirror do-do scraper~ they are bound to do one, Hope Aggie has her drawers out to guide Merry in.

Tina .... .We must be off....even if Olde Crone begs us to stay...all good things must come to an end. Come on we have to catch the early tide. Are we all ready to depart? Berylx

Jess I am so pleased that your nightmare is finally over. Did you slip something in her christmas sherry? However, every cloud has a silver lining and all that, 'cos had it not been for your nightmare, which I think provoked our incredible journey, then the rest of us would have had a far less interesting c-mas. Many thanks for your selfless suffering in the cause. Olde Crone - do you really want us to stay for the New Year? Tina

Merry Report 30 Dec 2005 23:17

Olde Crone, So your house WAS the one with the decorations?! So sorry we cannot join you for the new year festivities :O(( Jess............IS THAT TRUE?????? Will open a bottle of champers immediately!!!!! Pass your glasses! I'll bring this extra large shovel - sure we will need it for the do-do's............... Merry

An Olde Crone

An Olde Crone Report 30 Dec 2005 23:14

Oh, I see, you are all heading off home now, are you? Leaving me ALONE on my sofa for the NY celebrations, without even a drop of punch. Who is going to eat all these sprouts left from C-Day? I cannot bear to throw them away. (Will I ever stop feeling sick? Will the Turkey ever be finished? When can I take down these few pathetic decos? The cards fell down days ago and I havent bothered picking them up....) Wish I was going with Merry and Jess...I would LOVE to see them both picking up doodoo which has frozen, thawed, refrozen and rethawed... The Lifeboatmen are nearly all recovered now, thankyou, and the local Policeman has emerged, blinking and wincing, from his hiding place. Really, I would hardly know you had been, if it wasnt for the emptiness of my shed.Oh, and the latrine trench - very thoughtful of you to cover it with branches and old railway sleepers, but rather wish you hadnt thrown a fag end in there, caused a bit of a fuss. Olde Crone

8am? that's the middle of the flippin night! Well, better that we waited while the snow cleared.Should be a reasonably easy journey home.If I am honest the thought of getting home and laying in a piping hot bath is rather appealing. By the way, do you remember when we left we took a detour via a certain school and dumped some do-do? We, erm, need to go back that way and clear it up and pretend we never threw it...either D/Head has had an EXTREMLEY good christmas or something , as she has had a change of heart , ( a little bird just told me) New contract will be old hours at old rate.... maybe it was just a nightmare after all!

Well, the scavenging has been very successful. One bundle of firewood Half a carrier bag of wool (collected off barbed wire fences) A handful of shrivelled up blackberries that the birds must have overlooked. One dead rabbit - road kill Bag of turnips (I am sure the farmer won't miss just these few) Anyone know how to skin a rabbit and make rabbit stew? What time are we setting off tomorrow, Beryl? Tina

Merry Report 30 Dec 2005 19:01

That's a weight of my mind, Jess......... No wonder I kept dreaming about the Wizard of Oz, with those feet in the red slippers sticking out from under Dorothy's transport.......Don't suppose Alan wears sparkly slippers that often though??? The boat and sail are looking good. Kick off at 8am tomorrow.......... The huskies are not feeling as fit as they were at the RSPCA centre.....must be all the things they have eaten here?? A bit of mental telepathy to home revealed that hubby did so well on C-mas day, he wants to repeat the process on New Years day, so I will drop you off in the morning on Sunday and then make sure I'm not home until after lunch........ Merry

Merry ~ as you were so worried about Alan being left on his own I booked him into ours before I left. i guess he has behaved himself.....

Merry

Merry Report 30 Dec 2005 12:22

Gosh, Beryl....you woke me with a start then.....I was dreaming about NOT being at home!! LOL....it will be OK now....arriving back after the festivities........ I wonder if hubby has torn out his remaining hair, dealing with our family over the festive period? Or will they all have been carted of to the local loony bin? Merry

Beryl

Beryl Report 30 Dec 2005 12:17

Well....The string is ready hooks attached, bags are packed, just this last day and then awayyyyyyyy back home. Jess and Tina must be out scavenging.....or they are asleep in a dark corner. Merry looks so peaceful fast asleep....I think she must be dreaming...there is a little smile on her face....she must be dreaming about home. I shall just throw some driftwood on the fire and I too shall take a nap. Beryl x
