working abroad late 1889/early 1900 South Africa

Can anywon tell me how i can find out about a relative who went South Africa as a nanny/housemaid she came back after about five or six years she had one child in South Africa and had another child when she got back to England both by the same father. i would really like to find out if they married or not as he seemed to have vanished after she had the second child
