Karl, just a little tip that I have found useful. When you get the marriage certificate have a look at the witnesses. Sometimes this was another family member/s. I have found sisters, brothers, aunties, uncles etc. who were witnesses on old marriage certificates. Very handy when you are trying to pinpoint a family on a census return. Susan

109 replies to get back to 1901 census - that has to be some kind of a record, doesn't it?

Karl Report 17 Oct 2005 23:03

I will order the marriage certificate for IRENE and ALBERT tomorrow then when i recieve that i will try and find IRENE's dad then i will order his birth certificate and IRENE'S mum's birth certificate.

Highly Likely that Edward Chappie , Alter :-)) lol

The Ego

The Ego Report 17 Oct 2005 23:01

Convinced irene was born in liverpool now. There are 22 male Corran births in liverpool and surrounding areas (prospective father) 1891-1911. There are 6 marriages in the area with a male Corran 1900-1911. Bet you penny to a pound one of them is Irenes dad. Probably that edward chappie !! Karl-if you order irenes marriage cert-and it names Edward as father-then you can then confirm the birth of 1916,and the marriage of 1903.

Karl - It will tell you the names as they are on the reference. if it says Irene M Corran then that is what the cert will say. it will tell you the date they were married and both their fathers names and their occupations. You are obviously not married... Jess x

''marriage certificates these days don't give ages or anything'' I got married in June, and mine is exactly the same as one I have for 1863 (apart from the specifics, obviously lol) Go here http://home.clara.net/dixons/Certificates/marriages.htm

The Ego

The Ego Report 17 Oct 2005 22:46

It will have her fathers name on it>>>>that should help you locate where the family where on the 1901 census.ie her father will probably be a child or teenager on the 1901.Also his occupation might give you clues.

dunno about Kerruish, but looking at the GRO index there are a lot of Kinnish in West Derby. They can't all be mistranscribed
