Hello Robyne, Thankyou for looking for Joseph SMEDLEY. I know that he was christened in Ashover in 1813 so he could be a little older. I doubt that he would be in Ashover itself as it seems as though he and Elizabeth HARDWICK were out of favour with their parents after the illegitimate birth of my gggrandfather. Is their any Joseph Smedley of around the right age ie 25 to 30? Anything at all would be great as I am clutching at straws at the moment. Thankyou Russell

Hi Robyne, If your kind offer is still open, please can you try Staffs and Warwickshire for the following please: If not in WEDNESBURY or WALSALL they may be in ASTON, Birmingham. JOSEPH BUNTING, born about 1790, WEDNESBURY or WALSALL wife MARY, approx. same age, born WALSALL. They may (or probably not!) have children with them - Jane b. 1812 Walsall William b. 1814 Walsall Mary b. 1816 Walsall Joseph b. 1822 Walsall. Don't bother trying to find the lads if they are not with parents. In 1851 William is a weighing machine maker & Joseph an engine driver, both in Birmingam. There is a likely family in 1851 in Aston but as the ages aren't quite right I need to know whether they are the same or a different family. This family Joseph is a scale beam maker. Children - Abel b. 1827 was with parents in 1851 (unmarried) Others - Isaac b. 1825 and Elizabeth b. 1833 Not sure where these children were from (all baptised in Birmingham but they were 2 - 12 years old so could have come from Walsall/Wednesbury) If these are the same families then of course there could be any mix of children in 1841. Many thanks Vicky

Hi Robyne, If you have some spare time could you see if you can find DANIEL PURVIS for me in Lincs. According to other census he was born between 1820-1823 in Spalding Lincs or Holbeach - he has had names from Purvin,Purris, to Purbis. I have no idea who his parents are yet - spent most of his life around Holbeach after he married. Thanks Laurie

Robyne I can't believe it but you have broken down my 22 year brickwall and I want to give you my heartfelt thanks. You found Alexander Fletcher with his father John Fletcher in the 1841 Census along with son Peter 3 and Daniel 1 in Coventry My dilemma was that by 1851 Alexander was married. I knew John was an Army Pensioner, but in the 51 census there were two John Fletcher's about the correct age and Army pensioners. One was living next door but one to my Alexander, and had a son Peter 13, and another son Daniel 11. Now I can prove conclusively that I have the right John. Many thanks again. Chris
