Hello again Mike, Have had a look in my notes and found that the present Methodist Church was opened c1808 on the site of a former chapel, and the Baptist Church opened c1815. You must think I have an infernal cheek asking for bapts checked in Methodist and Baptist PR's, but the info was supplied by a cousin, since deceased, and I have no way of knowing which PR's he checked to get the info in the first place. Also, it took me 25 yrs to find my maternal 5xGGM, and I don't think I have another 25yrs left !! before I pass the baton to my daughters Best Regards, Ralph

Hi Mike, Thats very kind of you, and much appreciated, while there do you think you could have a quick look in the Kegworth records , Methodist and Baptist, for these baptisms, all Pyms Thomas 13-10-1822 Catharine 30-3-1825 Susan 12-8-1827 Eliza 26-12-1830 Phillip 14-4-1833 Father will be Thomas Pym, mother not known, remember the saga, I checked Kegworth and Diseworth on the IGI and they weren't baptised there, I think the Methodists were active in Kegworth at this time, not sure when chapel built tho' Regards, Ralph

Greeting's Again Ralph... Sorry no George in Barrow 1841. Census.... Found these Burials which could be Thomas & Mary :- BARROW ON SOAR WHYMAN MARY 10 DEC 1854 59 WIFE OF THOMAS BARROW ON SOAR WHYMAN THOMAS 20 JAN 1875 85 Would it help if I had a look at Lockington Parish Records At Wigston Records Office sometime this week.. It might just give details of George either in Mary's Christening or his Marriage....? MIKE.

Ralph Report 30 Oct 2005 19:37

Hello again Mike, The marriages are correct, the burial could well be Hannah (Pym), as I don't know where husband George Parker was born, a daughter Mary Parker was baptised at Lockington on 11 Dec 1820, Hannah may have died in childbirth. The Barrow connection is Thomas Whyman who married Catharine Pym, Elaine supplied data for a Thomas and Mary Whyman of Barrow, (if I've got the right Thomas), another Thomas Whyman was baptised at All Saints, Loughborough on 15-7-1783, I'm not positive on which one Catherine married. Regards, Ralph

Greeting's Again Ralph.... Sorry drew a blank for George & Hannah Parker in Lockington & Hemington 1841. Census. Altough there was several pages missing ........ So now I'll see if they are in Barrow in 1841...... I found a burial for Lockington Parish Church:- Hannah Parker. 11th. June. 1820. Aged. 25. Abode Ticknall Derby. So a second Marriage could well be the answer..... Marriages found :- Thomas Parker. ~ Hannah PYM. Lockington. 1816. By Banns. Also. Thomas Whyman. ~ Catherine PYM. Lockington. 1816. By Banns. MIKE.

Hi Mike Thanks a million times as usual. Had a bit of luck though, a few weeks ago I put a search in for Nailstone and was put in touch with a chap who traces people and the history of Nailstone. I sent him some info looking at Kendrick's mainly and mentioned the Twigg's because they both came from Nailstone and by an amazing coincidence he is a Moore descendant. One of the marriage witnesses I gave him matches a Moore marriage and we are pretty they are the same family. There is a Thomas and Elizabeth that would be my George's brother as you just mentioned, my contact can't find the father George in 1841 either! In 1851 he is in Nailstone just to confuse me. Elaine

Hi Mike Many thanks for the confirmation. I have all the info, just wanted to see if for myself. When I go to Wigston next week I think I will look at Enderby first and then Lubbesthorpe as it becomes Enderby on the other side of the roundabout. Its quite eerie really. David was born 20 years before my grandpas birth in St Margarets but my grandpa started his business (grocery shops) just a stones throw from where David was born, although my grandpa was only 12 when his brother died. Again many thanks Little Lil
