Hi Jess Thanks for your reply. I have the details of the 1861 and 1891 census but am unable to locate them in the 71 and 81 census. I am begining to think they were beamed up by aliens or more likely that the name has been transcribed incorrectly. I am hoping that your detecting skills are better than mine. regards Tricia

Eliza B I think you are on dodgy ground with that 1901 family - i'm not as convinced as you! Not doing very well in 1891 for you either- leave that with me for a bit

Eliza - But in the same cenus they have a daughter Jemima and a daughter Rose. If you are thinking that birth for Rosanna Jemima is their daughter , would they have called another daughter Rose?, even if they called the first Roseanna by her second name jemima?

I would be most grateful for any help to try to find my gg aunt in 1891 and 1901. In 1871 she is Catherine Carew b. abt 1856 Manchester. Married James Burkenshaw in 1875. at Barton upon Irwell. In 1881 she is Kate Birkenshaw living in Leeds. She and James have a son John W b. abt 1876. After this, even though I realise that the name is open to various spellings, I seem to have lost them, and would really appreciate it if you could take a look. Sue

Hi Jess, I've been looking for Edwin Hollender in 1861 and 1881 censuses. He is on the 1871 census in Walsall Wood with his parents Joseph and Rebecca (transcribed as Hollmb!), age 13, Tile Worker but he is called Edward. This must be him as they didn't have an Edward according to the parish records. The next one I can find him in is 1891 with his parents again (still in Walsall Wood) - this time age 34, married and a labourer in a brick yard. Wife Martha Ann is visiting her mother in Norton Canes with children. In 1901 he has moved to Wye in Kent and is Edwin J. Hollender with wife Martha Ann and 2 children. I found his baptism entry: 04 Nov 1860 Edwin Joseph, son of Joseph & Rebecca Hollinder Tile Maker of Vigo, Walsall His marriage to Martha Ann Eccleston was Q1 1887 in Walsall. I think probably most of the Vigo in Walsall is missing in 1861 census (if that's where they were) but I would really like to find him in 1881. I would be so grateful if you could track him down. Jane
