Thanks Mike, that’s just brilliant. Does it give any indication of where she might have been born? I will have a general trawl to see if I can find any christenings that match. Thanks again for your help and pointing me in the right direction. I have put the spade away for the time being. Regards JoJo

' Your very Welcome Jo Jo ' The search site is down for the moment but the search will continue.... I'm starting in Surrey then Nottingham Mary might have been farmed out to a relative in Nottingham at an early age so Mary would think that is where she was born? MIKE.

Thanks for that Bev, but If Mary was born in Leicester, then why on the 1861 and 1871 census does she state that she comes from Nottingham in one and Surrey in the other. As I said in previous postings I have her marriage cert and death cert so hope that the name is correct (unless she changed it!!) I think this is one I will not get to the bottom of, unless the occupation of her father on the marriage certificate is incorrect. Thanks for your help. Will be back soon. Perhaps the spade suggestion is the only answer! JoJo

Think I may be missing something, she is 21 then and so far I have not found her 1861. Wondered if some kind soul would have more luck in finding her and the family in 1961 , she is down as living in Clara Street when she marries. Not had a gamekeeper in the family before !!! Elaine
