Hi,
I am researching my 'Powell' line. I have confirmed back to Benjamin 1814, born in Brecon, and have his parents as Benjamin Powell and Mary Edwards, but this is unconfirmed.

Any help would be appreciated

Eddie Report 29 Aug 2005 00:36

Hi Jess, I've pushed this back to the top didn't get any feed back the first time. I,m stuck with this one. I cannot locate any birth records to a Frederick March except in the 1881 census and he says he was born in Bristol in 1855. I have his marrage cert and on it he has his father as William March deceased cabinet maker. Frederick married Mary Jane Pickering in 1879 in Hull Yorkshire. In the 71 census I have a Frederick March age 7 born in Tewkesbury Gloucestershire, is this near Bristol? and could this be a transcript error 17 would be accepable. This is the wall I would love to get through. Any help would be great. Thanks Peter

Jess, I am having difficulty tracing my g-grandfather on the 1901 census On the 1891 census, he is living at 29 Denmark Street, Newcastle upon Tyne. However, I can find no trace of him on the 1901 census. He was born in Feb 1841 in Liverpool, and is a widower. he ended up in Tynemouth Union Workhouse and was admitted on 17 October 1902, but whether he ws there in 1901, I just don't know. He had an unmarried daughter called Maggie Dora Dorthy Palmer born 1876 in Whtiehaven, Cumberland. I can't find her either on the 1901 census. She married Jacob Dixon, but I don't know when. I have traced under both Palmer and Dixon without sucess. If you can find out anything about either, I will be very grateful. LOL Anne

Audrey Report 28 Aug 2005 22:43

Hi Jess, Dont know if you can help me with this or not. I am trying to trace the death of Isaac Hollins between 1861 and 1871. he is on the 1861 census in the workhouse, Dixon Street, Newcastle under lyme. I have checked free bmd, family search, and staffordshirebmd. Staffs record office tell me they have no registers for this workhouse until 1880. He was born 17/8/1799 and he is not on the 1871 census, so am presuming he is dead by then. any help would be greatly appreciated, he is becoming a real brick wall!!
