Dear Jess, I think you've found Grace Bolton. I've been trying all sorts of combinations of names with no luck. I believe her mother was unmarried at the time of Grace's birth and probably still was in 1861. Once again thanks so much for your help. Susan

Hi Jess, Here`s a couple for you to chew on! 1. Trying to find the following family on 1861 Census. Have spent a small fortune on 1837online and not located them. Thomas MORRIS b: 1829 Lambeth occ. Rule Maker/Mathmatical Instrument Maker Catherine MORRIS b: c.1827 Sussex (wife) Catherine Elizabeth (dau) b: Sept 1860 Newington/Walworth SRY Birth Cert. for Cath Eliz gives address as 6 or 8 (unclear) West Street, Reg District Newington, Sub-Dist St Peter Walworth Have them on the 1871 Census at 89 East St Newington where they lived until Thomas`s death 1888 2. Thomas MORRIS and Catherine PIPER were married 31 Aug 1850 at St Mary Newington SRY. First child I can find born to them was Catherine Elizabeth in Sept 1860 (as above). It may well have taken them a while to figure out the procreation thing but seems to me that 10 years was way too long! Are you able to find any births during this period? Any help greatly appreciated Cheers Sherryl in NZ

Jess, I hope you don't mind me giving you a puzzle! I am trying to trace the parents marriage of Thomas Foster born c.1843 Woodborough, Notts. I know that his parents were Elizabeth Marshall and William Foster from his brother George's birth cert in 1857. According to the 1861 census Elizabeth was born c.1823 in Cotgrave, Notts later census gave Stragglethorpe as the place which is the next hamlet along. William Foster c.1822 born Keyworth, Notts. I have traced another Elizabeth Marshall born 1821 born in Cotgrave but she marries someone else a Mr Hooper if I remember correctly. Confused and grateful for anything, Pippa
