Brennan Report 19 Jul 2005 02:50

Hi Jess Can i say how very sorry i am, you must think i am an ignorent so and so, I made a request in the early hours of the 17th thinking i was going to have more or less a free day but, plans-mice and men spring to mind, once again i can only apologise. My request was for information from the 1901 census regarding the names of Youlden, Badland and Langdell. In your reply you ask where i sourced the names and dates. These are my grandparents and until i sent for copies of my parents birth certs i didn't know them. My fathers details, John Harold Yolden b19/6/1905 father Albert Edward Yolden mother Barbara Yolden formerly Frier signature of informant X the mark of Barbara Yolden, this at least explained the misspelt surname,Lower Tower street Aston. My mother, Ruby Violetta Badland b31/3/1909 father Francis Joseph Badland mother Ellen Badland formerly Langdell Bath Row Aston. Having read of sites on these boards i found a marriage of Youlden/Frier 1892 and Badland/Langdell 1902 but didn't note down where, i found that tip too late. I hope this info is of some help to you. Bren

Jess, You're great! Looks like Thomas is always the eldest sons name. And my gran has mentioned some of the places that these people were born in, saying there were aunties etc in the London area. I think it is his dad too, as they were both in Bromley at the same time having children, maybe his eldest son lived with them for some time. Considering how vague the information I had was, this is brilliant. Will now be checking the certs of course! Thanks again Heidi

Hi Jess sorry i dont know what happened then, it just went before i had finished. The next two didn't marry until the Sept Qtr of 1902 in Aston but i am hoping that if you can find them in the 1901 census that they are both living with their respective parents. Francis Joseph Badland, born c1877 Ellen Langdell born c1881 I hope that this information is enough to let you be able search. Once again thank you. Bren

Hi Jess,PRESCOT IS A REGISTRATION DISTRICT THAT COVERS ST HELENS,WINDLE,SUTTON AND ALL THE SURROUNDING AREAS. MARY PULLAR WAS IN FREEBMD MARRIAGE :YEAR 1874 DISTRICT:PRESCOT, COUNTY: LANCASHIRE, VOLUME:8b PAGE 954 THE MALES ON THAT PAGE WERE LEE,WRIGHT ,ROBINSON,JAMES. I THOUGHT THE BEST WAY TO FIND OUT WHICH ONE SHE WAS MARRIED TO WOULD BE THROUGH THe 1881CENSUS AND POSSIBLY 1901 THERE WERE VERY FEW PULLARS IN THAT AREA AT THAT TIME. MOSTLY MY ANCESTORS WHO HAD COME FROM SCOTLAND. SO I FIGUERED ANY PULLAR AT THAT TIME WOULD BE RELATED. CATHERINE,MARY,JANET and SARAH WERE MY GGRANDMOTHERS SISTERS. I'm KEEPING MY FINGERS CROSSED X THANKs,Margaret

Hi Jess, Please could you do me another favour and check the 1901 census for a Thomas Day. I believe he may be in South Leighton, Essex, and he may already have been married with sons John and/or Tom/Thomas. I realise this is a long shot, but I have no further info, except that he may have been listed on the census as a Commercial Traveller (per his sons marriage cert) - I've been told he was a Punch & Judy man. Thanks Heidi
