Bernard Report 28 Jun 2005 22:22

Hello Jess, Hope it is on the right board this time. Trying to find Thomas Taylor no DOB, wife Ellen born Jan 1807, Children - Ann 1842, Ellen 1845, Margaret 1846, Elizabeth 1848, William 1849, Stephen 1851. They were all born in the area of Slaidburn, which includes Dalehead and Easington - was in the West Riding (not the one in the East Riding). In 1974 Slaidburn became part of Labncashire, so records have been transferred to Lancashire locations. In 1851 this family was living in the village of Slaidburn, but have not been found there, or in surrounding district in 1861. If you can trace them in 1861, we will then know where to look in later censuses. Thanking you in anticipation of success. Regards, Bernard

Hi Jess, Thanks for finding the information for me. Yes i did realise he was a twin, their middle name is their mothers maiden name, except i didn't twig till i sent for the birth cert. I spent ages wondering why they had Bristow as a middle name. Duh! Alittle wisher now. Thanks again Kirsty x

Bernard Report 29 Jun 2005 14:37

Hello Jess, Thanks for your efforts, but none of the people found were matches. We think that Stephen Robinson, born 1826, would die in the Accrington, Lancashire, area, as in 1881 his four daughters were living in that area of Lancashire and in 1891 he was living in Accrington with one of them. We only know the whereabouts of one of them in 1901 and he was not living with her. Regards, Bernard

Jess, I know I am asking for the most difficult of look ups, address based, if you say it can’t be done or even won’t be I’ll still be thankful for your opinion and forever in your debt for your previous guidance. I recently obtained a June 1872 death certificate for a 26 year old Thomas Cooke, (may or not be half of the 1846 twins) the address was 70 Rutland Street, Leicester. The father named as William Cooke (prob 1816), the informant and present at the death was C Cooke. This is all I have to give without telling a story( I‘ll do it, most of it is written), knowing who was at that address in 1871 could confirm or destroy several theories. x Bob. Day off after last nights midnight six mile walk home from sea front Trafalgar celebrations.
