Hello Jess, sorry I didn't get back to you last night. I have Susan (Thorn) on the 1881 census, she was widowed in 1867 and remarried a Job Moon, living at Dunkerton. Her birthplace is given as Faulkland/Falkland, Somerset andthe family are living at Dunkerton, Somerset (Bath area). Although I am looking for Susan and details of the family, I really would like to find out where her husband James was born - haven't been able to find him on either the 1841 or 1851 and he died before the 1871! Any help at all is appreciated. Regards Barbara

Hello Jess, Remember I asked you the “awkward “ who may or may not be at 70 Rutland Street Leicester 1871. On Beverleys Leicester thread last night Mike was doing old address call ups for the town. So I put in. This is what he sent back ......................................... 1870's :- Kelly's Trade Directory ..... The Three Crowns Mews. 70, Rutland Street. Leicester. Proprietor George Cooke. Coach Carriage & Hearse Hire Service...... Black Horses with Plumes to match..... Posting's conducted with care.... ........................................................ Does this help for a census look or muddy things even more? For me it reinforces my LDS research/eliminations. In and out of the boards tonight. x Bob

Jess, You gave me those some while ago, in fact most of my back, forward and lateral is using them. 1871 is the last time they are group, by 1881 it looks like several bad and other turns have happened. The c1823 dad Thomas is dead 1875, cirossis. I suspect that (1846) Thomas the twin died also small pox 1872, wrong father given on dodgy cert. I have never found David. Aaron the other twin married 1877 a double wedding with sister Betsy spliced the same day. Arthur, I found with mum Eleanor in Plymouth 1891, he'd been widowed with two daughters. Mum died Orsett 1894. Precis, Bob

Jess, Pub crew surely must be brother and cousins. I’m going to fly with this until I crash and burn! I searched LDS for Nottingham born George, came up with very bad dates, did the same for Leicester and got this 1815 boy born Sapcote, 3 miles from Peckleton with same parents as my group. Birthdate is slight advance on Marriage but so what....I’ve read bigger mistakes written/transcribed. THOMAS COOKE - International Genealogical Index / BI Marriage: 03 AUG 1815 Peckleton, Leicester, England Spouse: REBECCA BARSBY Family Marriage: 03 AUG 1815 Peckleton, Leicester, England GEORGE COOK Birth: Christening: 22 APR 1815 Sapcote, Leicester, England WILLIAM COOK Birth: 20 MAY 1816 Christening: 21 DEC 1818 All Saints Bond Street-Independent, Leicester, Leicester, England MARY COOK Birth: 30 NOV 1817 Christening: 21 DEC 1818 All Saints Bond Street-Independent, Leicester, Leicester, England THOMAS COOKE Birth: 05 JUN 1820 Christening: 03 JUN 1822 All Saints Bond Street-Independent, Leicester, Leicester, England As a rider, I believe the Nottingham bit comes from next generation back... but “inch by inch its a cinch, yard by yard its very hard” so I’ll save that for later. I do hope that others scan your thread, i.e, Victor, Mike et al. It would be good that every one sees the (proposed)results that you especially have helped me attain. Monday I visited the Local LDS and ordered films to search this group and marriage. x Bob PS I've only taken a couple of hours out this a.m. to message. It was in my head all night, I think I broke my brain! of to site now.

Hi there, I've never tried the tips pages before today, and so didn't know that people could be so helpful to those others with this mad addiction to finding where we came from! If it's not too much trouble, please can you help me too :-) I trying to track Henry William Pannell born in the parish of Alverstoke, Gosport, Hants in 1868-ish. I don't know anything about his siblings or parents. However, I do know that by 1894 he had married Alice Sparshott and in 1895 they had their first son Arthur Henry Charles, still in Alverstoke. I also searching for the parents of Beatrice Julia Hood, born in March 1895, but I don't know where. She had two sisters, Lilian and Winifred, and by 1916 she had moved to Alverstoke, Gosport and married Arthur Henry Charles Pannell. Any help at all would be much appreciated. Thanks Heidi
