Hi again Jess, would you try and find John PINDER born abt. 1818 in Falsgrave. I have him 1861 living with Ann PINDER, in Hunmanby, Bridlington and then I think in 1881 he is living in Scarborough with possibly a new wife, Elizabeth PINDER. Can you find him and his household in 1871, thanx Jess Debbie

Christopher Report 6 Jun 2005 10:33

Jesse please would you be so kind as to look in 1861 data. The family I am interested in is called, “Kay”. My Great Grandfather on my mother’s side was called Thomas Kay. Thomas Kay married Clara Hardcastle on 1st February 1885 at St Peters, Hunslet (District of Leeds). This father was named as Noah [deceased] (not the one with the arc). In the 1871 Census I have come across a family, which could be the family I am searching for. At the time of the wedding Thomas was 23 and Clara was 21. On the 1871 census Thomas was only eight years old and it looks like Noah was already dead. The 1871 census information follows. 1871 census Address: Scholey Close/Court, Holbeck (District of Leeds) Hannah Kay: 48 Born Hutton Lee, Hull (?), Yorkshire. Head, Widow, Charwomen. Ann Elizabeth ? Kay: 19 Born Hunslet, Yorkshire. Daughter, Cleaner in flour mill. James Kay: 17 Born Featherstone nr Leeds, Yorkshire. Son, Potter/Porter. George Kay: 11 Born Hunslet, Yorkshire, Son Thomas Kay: 08 Born Hunslet. What I would like to confirm is that I have the right family and that Noah was the father and alive in 1861. There is a death of a Noah Kay in BMD December 1863 Vol 9b Page 189 Hunslet (District of Leeds). Another area of Leeds worth looking at would be Holbeck. Thank you for any help you can offer. Kind regards, Christopher.

Hello Jess, Thank you for your kind offer. I'm looking for HANNAH ELWORTHY born c.1801 in the 1861 census. In 1851 she was living in Eastover, Bridgewater, Somerset with her husband Aaron Elworthy born c.1802. Aaron was a butcher. I'm afraid I don't know where Hannah or Aaron were born. I hope this is enough information for you to find her. Helen
