Jess, have been rummaging through all my bits and pieces of papers and notes, and i have come across something that i cant remember writing down,or where it came from, and im not sure how to deciphir it really? On a piece of card is written-John Drinkwater 1879,Yeading,Middlesex.(civil parish)Hayes(county)Middx, RG11/1335,(reg district)Uxbridge,(sub district)Hayes, 7/folio(35)page 22 ?????.Im not quite sure how you read that as i have only ever ordered a certificate off 1837online and that doesnt read how you order from them with a G.R.O index.Dont know if it means anything to you ?Do you think i should ask on the tips board to find out if anyone can deciphir it,thanks.

On his wedding certificate his full name is given as John Walter Drinkwater (march 4th 1900) aged 19,bachelor,(carman),living at 5 Goodson rd Willesden, fathers name George Drinkwater, labourer. On my nans birth certificate,Ada Gertrude Drinkwater,15th april 1904,says John Drinkwater(father). On his sons birth cert,(John George,3rd june 1900) he is down as John Walter Drinkwater. On the printout i have for the 1901 census, just states John Drinkwater(carman)age 20(last birthday) and lists his wife and son John George. Seems like the Walter part comes and goes.?Thanks once again for your help, much appreciated,i thought it must be something i was doing wrong as im a bit of a novice to all this!

William, he would show if he was born by the following census - but as we cant say for certain he was. Chicken and egg.... if we could find his birth we would know when he was born and that if i hunted long enough i'd find him or If we could positively identify him on a census we'd know when he was born!! Was his name John or Walter - i have looked for both

William

William Report 3 May 2005 20:41

Can you give me any advice as to why his birth just doesnt seem to show anywhere? Is there somewhere else i should be looking, would he appear on 1881 census?? Anyway thanks for trying, seems a bit of a mystery to me!!

William Report 3 May 2005 14:38

Jess,i know that he came from a pretty large family,6 or 7 brother and sisters.Iknow a couple of names of siblings,Fanny,Joseph,William Walter,i did have a contact from a distant relative who said most of the family had come from Hayes and Yeading,Johns father was George Drinkwater who i believe was from Hayes.Would seem to point to a birth around 1879-1881 at latest, sorry i cant give you any more help, very frustrating, thanks for your help.
