Sylvia - age apropriate 'maybe's' eliminating those either very young and assuming death in Oldham district * presume he fathered Florence in 1895, and died after * don't 'presume' he fathered the 1901 born...may not have done ( My mum's Uncle born 7 years after his dad died AND her Gran put HIS name on Birth cert, nobody seemed to check!) so if James was born in 1867, need to do some maths: * none of them quite add up,but a couple close Name: Wrigley, James Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 33 Quarter: June Year: 1897 - 33 = born 1864 District: Oldham County: Greater Manchester Lancashire Volume: 8d Page: 495 Name: Wrigley, James Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 43 Quarter: September Year: 1897 - 43 = born 1854 District: Oldham County: Greater Manchester Lancashire Volume: 8d Page: 537 Name: Wrigley, James Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 43 Quarter: March Year: 1900 - 43 = born 1857 District: Oldham County: Greater Manchester Lancashire Volume: 8d Page: 645 Name: Wrigley, James Henry Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 29 Quarter: March Year: 1898 - 29 = born 1869 District: Oldham County: Greater Manchester Lancashire Volume: 8d Page: 502 Name: WRIGLEY, James William Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 37 Quarter: December Year: 1891 - 37 = born 1854 District: Oldham County: Greater Manchester Lancashire Volume: 8d Page: 472 have not added anyone over about 45 years of age or less than in 'adulthood' ~jess~

Unknown Report 7 Apr 2005 09:08

Hi Jess, the information you gave me yesterday has proven very interesting, my husband and I MAY share the same ancestor. Is there any way you can find out if Robert Proctor born 1807 Burnley, is the son of Henry and Peggy Proctor (sometimes spelt Prockter), Henry born 1776, Peggy born 1769, married 1797 Burnley. Perhaps you could point me in the right direction, thanks Gloria

The Bag

The Bag Report 7 Apr 2005 09:15

Gloria - you need someone with an early Lancashire census - try putting a request on the records office board, something like. 'How early in Lancs can anyone go?' Then explain what you are trying to establish. The replies will be that you need to look at parish records BUT someone may pop up with the info you need. Good luck - ~Jess~

Thanks to you (and all your little helpers) for the Macey information. Not sure if it ties in yet, I need to cross-reference with 1881, where the only suitable Charles Macey I've spotted is a convict and a possible Elizabeth in the workhouse!

hello again jess ... update on james wrigley .... he was born in 1867 so if still alive in 1901 he would be 34.. daughter florence was 6 in 1901 so 1895 her birth year , the last address for mary wrigley ( james wife ) was 11 back high st middleton , but no mention of james , its a pity they where married in 1892 missing the 1891 census !! i just dont know where to go from here ,. as you found there are quite l lot of james wrigleys in and around middleton etc. on my dads birth cert no father mentioned dad was born sept 1901, so he missed the census , on mum and dads wedding cert it names james wrigley as father (deceased ), is this enough to find out a little more , or what do i need now ? sorry to pick your brains so much but this is my first try and i have done quite well with a little help ,. sylvia
