Hello again Mike, I'm afraid it is me again! Worse than that I am still chasing John Smith! Well I did give you a couple of day's break........ I wonder do you have acess to the 1861 census for Foleshill Warwick? If so could you please look up John Smith born Wigston about 1842. Have this feeling he might be there. Thanks Alice

I'm back! Its been a while but here goes: Mike (whining!) Could you check your 1861 for Sarah Walker, born about 1846 in Syston/Queniborough area. She didn't marry until 1866, so hopefully she was with her family (of wheelbarrow fame!!) Thankyou loads (again!) Hows the prozac/brasso habit going along?!! Sarah

Greeting's Again Margaret..... I'm Glad you found further details for Edward.... Now this Robert...... it's not Edwards brother is it ? It's the one who's marriage I found for you 26th. Nov. 1770. at RATBY Church. .... Due to the early date I doubt if you will find much other than trawling through the Parish Records for RATBY... But having said that...... Below is an extract from the Leicestershire Philiomore's Disk Heading Ratby Parish:- Notes :- The fine old Church of Ratby was partially destroyed by fire, and with it, we understand the old Records And again the earlier part of the last century. Therefore practically nothing remains of the Records of Baptisms and burials prior to the year 1813. Even the records from the 1813. ~1853. show signs of smoke discouloration...... I did have a whizz round my disks but drew a blank Sorry.... MIKE.

Greeting's Sheila.... Glad you had a nice day at F.W.K Museum makes you thankful for small mercies..... Oadby has always been on it's own ... If you can post a few ages for Thomas & Rechabina (have you tried goggling with just that name ? ) Then I'll have a whizz around my disks and see what developes.... MIKE.

Sheila Report 4 Apr 2005 21:21

Good evening people. Went to the Framework Knitting Museum at Wigston yesterday. Absolutely fascinating. Thought husband was going to die of boredom but I had a wonderful time! If you've not been you should go, if only to support the volunteers who have done such a good job. V useful to know how my ancestors spent their working lives. It might have been repetitive, but after the day I've had today I think it would beat working for an estate agent!! lol Getting back to the plot...Mike - do the indexes etc that you have cover Oadby? Was that part of Leicester in the 19th century or was it like Foleshill and Coventry and only absorbed later? I have Thomas Simons, bricklayer and I'm after a maiden name for his wife Rechabina, but because she's always transcribed incorrectly on the census index I'm stuck again. Never heard the name before. Anyone think it could be a gypsy name? If it is then maybe one thing out of all the things my mother told me may turn out to be true! Cross my palm with silver dearie. Sheila (losing the plot - it's been a long week)
