Dear Jess I'd be grateful if you could possibly track down my Watkinson family in the 1891 census. I have them in the 1901 census (and they are definitely mine) as follows: 3 Eagle Place, Mile End Old Town. ref RG13/330 William, head, M, 32, Coachman, worker, England!!! Martha, wife, M, 30, England William, son, 10, England Florrie, daur, 6, England John, son, 4, England Thomas, son, 2, England William, ??father, 66,England Mary, ?? mother, 66, England Martha, daur, 8, England. The enumerator just put the country of origin for the whole page! I have a possible marriage for William and Martha (Wilks) in Hackney in Q3 1891. I am having trouble finding them on the 1881 census as there are several possibilities (there is one close match for Standish in Lancashire, but that isn't them). If you could possibly find them on the 1891 census this would be very helpful and I can then track back to the 1881. Thanks. Maggie

Hi Jess, Thanks for answering. The answer to your question is daft - I'm not resally sure who I am looking for - hoping for some long lost rellies! My gg grandfather (Thomas Ward) is listed as being a lodging house keeper there in 1982 as well as the address I found him at on 1891 census. I guess I was just hoping another family member might have been running it for him! Thanks anyway Christine

Jan.jan Report 14 Mar 2005 17:42

Jess. Dinah was born in West Lavington and died 11th Dec 1946. I think she died in the same village and as far as I can make out, she died a Hibberd but then that doesn't mean that she didn't marry a cousin which would leave her as a Hibberd! Thanks for looking anyway.
