Posting this on behalf of Fay who is no longer a member.

Hi Dea the Cumberland arms is still a pub and it is in Middlewich street,it used to be my local many years ago and I worked there for a short time.I have put a link to a site which has a photo of the pub ,as you look at the pub to the left used to be a house which became part of the pub about 35 years ago ( very rough guess)http://ghostlycrewe.blogspot.co.uk/2010/08/crewes-pubs-past-and-present.htmlHope this helpsFay

Hi Dea Sorry I've not been in touch been a busy couple of days. I've tried everywhere to get a telephone number for you but its not listed the only thing I can think of is that the number is listed under the name of the Landlord. But tonight I've asked a chap at work to go and have a drink there and see if he can get the tel number. Have taken Photo for you now just got to work out how to down load it and email you it. In the mean time can you message me direct with your email address then I can forward the Photo. Be in touch soon Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, Yes please to the picture if it's not too much trouble. Also, If I could be cheeky - If you live locally - can you look up the 'phone number for me as the one I got from the internet was no longer in use and 'directory enquiries', or whatever they are called now have no trace. I would like to get in touch to see if the present licensee knows anything of the Pub's history. Thanks, De.

Its still called The Cumberland Arms my mistake the one I thought it was that is now called Sleepers was The Combermere Arms. Do you want a picture let me know and I'll bring my Camera with me tommorrow. Regards Cheryl Regards Cheryl

Yes Tina, 5, Middlewich Street, Crewe. In 1901 my husband's great grandmother was landlady Sarah Louisa Hickton but by 1912 it was in the name of her brother in law Stephen chesters Hickton. - I am trying to trace them both. Any information would be appreciated, Regards, Dea.
