The Fox and Hounds in Carshalton 1901. Family HAWKINS. Pub is still there and relatively unchanged from the 1901 photo I have of it.

My pubs are:- The Ship, Poplar London 1901 landlord Edwin Osgood The Bricklayers Arms, Limehouse c1908 The Plough - location unknown - probably London c 1914 All under Edwin Osgood as Landlord - his wife was a Goodhew

The Thornely Arms, Dodworth, Yorks The Smiths Arms, Dodworth (beerhouse) The Fox and Hounds, Silkstone, Yorks The Thornely Arms is still there, The Hoyland family ran it from about 1840 to 1913. Anne

Jayne, I think The Ship's still there on Plumstead Common. I'm going up to Plumstead at the weekend I'll ask my Brother. Mine is Earl of Moira, Shooters Hill (then Charlton), name of Huxstep. My daughter also ran pub called Coventry Cross about 10 years ago and another in Surrey but I've forgotten the name of it. Jan

Mine's the Red Lion Hotel in Burley in Wharfedale. It was run by my great grandfathers nieces father in law and she and her husband worked and lived there in 1901. A very slight connection but a connection - a twig maybe! Debby Another way of putting it is my great uncles daughters father in law (I think!)

My husband's ancestors were running a pub called KING HENRY V111, King Henry Walk just off the Balls Pond Road, Islington in 1851. Edward Foley was 41 b Lambeth Wife Maria age 37 St Georges Hanover Sq. The children were born either Bermondsey or Islington. They had moved to Essex by 1871 but I have not been able to find them in 1861. When I went up to the LMA I tried to find out about them but the licenses started after 1851. Shirley

Think it was great grandad kept the Stags Head in Yorkley, Glos and then moved onto the Bell Inn, Horsley, Glos. Apparently he drank all the money away!

Mine is the DERBY ARMS or DERBY INN, known as the TOP DERBY to distinguish it from another Derby Arms in the same road! This was in Barnes Green (Blackley?) Manchester. My 2 x Gt Grandparents, THOMAS AND ELIZA BELL had it for over forty years, Eliza was still there as a widow in 1895 (TD). Marjorie
