Susan, Eliza was born in Denbighshire the address is 5 Victoria Ter, abbreviation for 'Terrace' John - Where born: Ruthin, Denbighshire, Wales I wouldn't have a clue as to Eliza's maiden name- you would find that on their marriage certificate, if you can't find a likely marriage on free BMD The children of a couple are just that, the children. the children are each others siblings,Henry Thomas and John are siblings, another word for brothers and sisters. 1871 census ref is RG10/5656 folio 89 page 22 jess

~Looby Loo~ Report 28 Feb 2005 13:05

Hi Jess, On a previous occassion you have tried to help me, but I couldn't log on for the last few days and I've lost that thread, it's my fault as I didn't keep a record of what you've written, and then I received more information about him. Could you please be so kind as to look him up again. I'd understand if your too busy, but here goes just in case. Name William Oswald Jones DOB 3rd October 1899 Birth address Either Neston or Malpas (Nr Chester) I remember you found Jones's in Birkenhead but they don't appear to be him. Siblings: Muriel, Thom and Norman. He Married an Elsie Coyne, who I believe had 2 children out of wedlock, Named Harry and Patricia, Address Nottingham, I also believe they lived in Brownhills Stafford. Moving to Birkenhead around 1939, then Childer Thornton and Little Sutton in Cheshire. They went on to have children together named, Barbara, Norma, Edna, Raymond, They were divorced before Elsie Coyne died (1949). William O Jones moved to London where he met and married another Elsie surname unknown. If you do find anything Jess, I won't lose it this time around, I'll keep checking the thread, Many thanks in advance, Kind regards Sandra

Carole, Swirles place and 2 north market Rd are adjacent entries on the cenus, where one stops and the other ends i am unsure. Either way, geographically they are the same place. you can of course check for yourself in Kellys directories, where you will find they appear in middle market road in 1912 Victor does fit in somewhere! it may turn out to be that he is the son of her husband by a former relatioship but the fact that he is adopted means he was with them for the duration, not just passing through as say a visitor was. maybe that was her husbands name? Elaine Report 1 Mar 2005 23:31

Hi Jess, Elaine again. Yes, someone looking on Rootschat just told me that they were mistranscribed and the family are mistakenly down in the name of Teakle. Still no sign of William Shepherd the Dad though. I think he must have just avoided the census that year. Wonder where he was - perhaps he was stuck in the loo or something?!! Elaine
