Missing on census records- another reason!

I was doing a look up for someone today and found a family of Shepherds (according to ancestry). When I looked at the image the mother had obviously remarried and two of the kids named Shepherd on ancestry's transcription were actually Elkington (obviously their fathers name). So now we know another reason why we cant find people sometimes, they have been entered under the stepfathers name.
