Mike I haven't been looking on these threads for a bit - and since then I succumbed to the Leicester Project CD from L&RFHS. Last August, you were kind enough to set me on track with my North Kilworth BENNETTs: From a scanned image of 1841. Census return. HO107/589/06/Page 1. North Kilworth. Lutterworth Road. Amongst the family was "* Ada ? Freda ?Dau.4" where "* not able to read the name clearly" Is it possible to read "Rhoda" into that image? That would tie in with a Baptism (per the CD database) 29 Aug 1837 for a daughter of George Bennett and Margaret/Martha. The CD says "Margaret", but it also says that for Edwin's baptism 7 Jun 1835, which you reckoned was Martha. Thanks Christine

And, pretty please, Mike I know the 1841 census doesn't give detailed "where born" info, but I believe it often states "in County" or "out of county". I haven't traced George & Martha's marriage, so I was wondering whether she might have been born over the order in Northants or Warks - in which case the wedding might have been in her parish, not his. Could I have the where-born info for that census report, please? thanks Christine

Greeting's Again Christine.... I’ve Re checked that Scanned Image again for your Bennett's :- 1841. Scanned Census Image. HO 107 / 598 / 06 / Page 1. North Kilworth. Lutterworth Road. George Bennett.35. Ditto. Ag Lab. Y. MARTHA. 35. Y. Jane. 11. N. James.10. N. William.10. N. Edwin. 6. Y. Freda / Roda ? 4. George. 1. Y. Y. = YES Born within the County. N. = NO Not born within the County. ****************************** Defiantly “ MARTHA “ Not the name Margaret and not enough letters. No G so no downward stroke for the tail of the G. It could be made out to be “ RODA “ without the H. Suggest you click on my name and send me a “ PM “ including your E-mail address. So I can send you a copy of the scan……. You’ll see how difficult it is with “Ye Oldie English “ writing The Transcriber for that disk could have miss read or miss typed the Mother’s name. ????? MIKE.

Thanks very much, Mike, I shall contact you directly. Copper plate script does add to the challenge of reading handwriting, I know. I imagine in a big task like this there will be some errors - I think the disk is very new, so the database will probably need fine-tuning as people actually use it. Christine
