I knew there was good stuff in there somewhere, I am connected, I AM!! SSSSHHHH about the wheelbarrows, we got away with it for this long, can't have people knowing we crossed the borders.....! PPS: Just to let you know, I have also discovered a link to the Langhams of Hinckley (of barefisted boxer fame), so I am quite pleased with myself (am practising my right hook in honour!!) :-)) Sarah

Sarah..... Not so much of the " Upper Class " more like " Upper cut " then ? ....lol :0))) Beverley........ Found Uquila William Hincks now.... (Looked like a U than an A. to me ....) So looks like they droped the Uquila and went for the William name on the 1841. Census then ?...... MIKE.

Aside from the fact they were from the worst street in Hinckley, and after retiring from boxing, owned a dodgy pub where illegal fights were held, he wasnt a bad man I'm sure! AND he moved to .............. LONDON (Whoargh!!) :-) Sarah

Hi Mike and sarah can i borrow your dark room mike im getting confused are my Hincks and sarahs connected? and aquila s birth was 1843 on english index for births deaths and marriage so that must have been a William on 1841 or am i wrong? I think you can have all the Hincks Sarah i dont think i want them lol Bev

sarahjw03 Report 6 Dec 2004 22:44

No Beverly, I can find no sign of a connection (yet!). I just want to be, so I can say my Hincks had a servant!! Sorry for the confusion, it seems to be a family trait of mine to confuse people!! Mike hasn't been the same since I asked him to do my Barwell lookups, you see, he had to go on Prozac now! Sarah

Beverley....." You rang M' Lady " ....lol :0))) According to the Birth Index Files on 1837 site. August Quarter 1843. (A)UCQUILLA WILLIAM HINCKS. Cert Number :- XV 41. But on the scanned Census 1841. It states William Son. 5. So did they drop the 1st name or maybe the enumerator couldn't spell it ? ... Which ever way I think it's the same rel. MIKE.

Just found this: AQUILA Gender: Masculine Usage: Biblical, Ancient Roman Pronounced: a-KWIL-a, AK-wil-a [key] Extra Info: From a Roman cognomen which meant "eagle" in Latin. In Acts in the New Testament Paul lived with Aquila and his wife Priscilla (or Prisca) for a time. Was Priscilla the mother or wife? That sounds like MY Hincks!! Goodnight folks, am shuffling off to bed, after causing mahem on here tonight! Hee hee, :-)) Sarah

Hi Mike, Sorry, I misunderstood - not being a local!! Looks like a trip up to Leicester may still be on the cards then. A very generous member has offered look-ups at the FRC on Saturday, of this week. So have asked him if he could possibly check 1841 Arnold for me for William & Mary! I'm sure this is where they're going to be. Have been doing a bit more digging around - seems the Noons, being in Leicestershire, may have only been a passing phase! Have found what I think is William Noon & Mary (nee Orringe) back in Loughborough, Leics in 1871. William's place of birth is Arnold, Notts. Mary is born Shepshed. So perhaps they were from Notts after all! Although all their children were born in Shepshed, I think they then moved back to Arnold, for a while at least. Debbie

Hi Mike, are you still looking to help people? My Grandmother was Elizabeth Jordan, born 1827 who wed John smith in Leicester. I know that they once lived in Orchard street, and that John once lived in Earl Shilton, but I know nothing about her parents, where she was born or when she died. It would be lovely if you could help. Eileen.
