WORTHING Borough Council website
click on burial register search, this is searchable by name

Just to say that I visited Abney Park Cemetery yesterday afternoon.

You would be lucky to find the grave you are looking for unless it was a particularly grand affair as it is very overgrown and I think quite dangerous to go scrambling about, but what a fascinating place. Tucked away in the middle of London it's a really quiet ,cool green place to go for a walk.

There is a small map on the website mentioned on this thread and you can locate whereabouts your ancestor might be buried but as I say it would be pot luck whether you found them or not.

A great site is for burials in Liverpool.
They have recently been updating their site and now have listings up until 1939 in the Consecrated section and up till 1928 in the Unconsecrated section.

LizRees Report 20 Apr 2010 09:47

And this one is fascinating from the historical viewpoint, rather than individual burials.

LizRees Report 20 Apr 2010 09:37

Excellent thread - thanks!

Apologies if this site has already been posted on the list - altho' I couldn't see it anywhere.

It's a new site, growing daily, aiming to be a central database for UK burials and cremations.

I won't paste the URL here because you have to pay for some parts of the service (against GR rules to advertise it I believe), but the name is self-explanatory ... deceased online.

I was just clicking around the tips board and found this thread, how happy am I that I did ? !

I just found the burial dates, section and index numbers for the burials of my maternal great grandparents and one of their sons who was my nan's brother in Abney Park Cemetery in Stoke Newington.

You never know do you in this game !
