A friend sent this to me today and I thought it would be of interest to some of you: In the January edition of Practical Family History is the following: 'Tell us a story from your family history and you could win a great prize'. Whether you are a new or experienced family historian, you might be interested in the History Channel's Family History Project. They are looking for interesting stories about someone in your family tree, with a view to featuring some of the best entries on the website, or making them into short TV programmes, and maybe even a bok. There are two categories, one for those who have never attempted to research their tree before, and one for those who have some experience researching their family history. Prizes for the winners include a camcorder and digital camera. Do be aware that it is your responsibility to obtain copyright clearance on all of your material. So, if you have an interesting family story that you could tell in around 250 words, then phone for an entry form, or submit your entry via the website. The competition is open to residents of the UK or the Republic of Ireland, aged 18 or over. The HistoryChannel, Grant Way, Isleworth, Middx. TW7 5QD Tel: 0845 671 6005 Web-site: www.thefamilyhistoryproject(.)co(.)uk Closing date for entries is 29 February 2004. Winners will be notified by 30 April 2004.
