Thanks for getting back to me Lucy, I really appreciate it! Having a really bad week so this is my bright spot in an otherwise dismal world. Georgie was born on Sept 14 1875 in Birmingham, Warwick and Anna (or Anne or Annie) was born on Aug 2 1876 in Coventry. Some said she came from Stratford, we're not entirely sure. They were married actually in 1897, I oopsed a little. So George would be in Birms and Anna would be ???? George had a brother we know was named Walter, we only know that because Anna was supposed to marry him and not our Georgie. Scandlous. Thanks again for looking for me! Amanda

By the way there too, Lucy, where does the 1891 census cover? Does it cover Ireland? Have some rellies in Northern Ireland, and some leaves missing on my tree.

Hi Amanda, Sorry to hear you've had a bad week hopefully these records are your rellies and it'll go some way to making you feel better. RG12/2413, Folio 81, page 13 Bordesley, Aston, Warwickshire 61 Parrish Street Thomas Lee, head, mar, 40, tube drawer, Birmingham St. Johns Emma Lee, wife, mar, 50, Birmingham Ladywood George Lee, son, sing, 16, Groom, Birmingham Ladywood RG12/2414, Folio 19, Page 31 Bordesley, Aston, Warwickshire 46k 3/5 Garrison Lane Ann James, head, mar, 48, charwoman, Sutton Coldfield Frederick James, son, 12, Birmingham Thomas Toft, brother, sing, 32, General Labourer, Birmingham Annie T Toft, niece, 14, Erdington Benjamin Ravenscroft, boarder, sing, 38, brick burner, Worcestershire This last record is very faint so it is possible that she is infact Annie L Toft. I've checked every spelling of Annie as well as Louise and Toft - this is the only record!

Amanda, Forgot to mention - there are only English and Welsh records on the ancestry site.

Emma

Emma Report 25 Sep 2003 11:38

Lisa, I have found him for you. I noticed on the 1901 census that there was also a Robert Wacey, so I tried searching him and found Robert Waley with son Frederick Waley grocer's assistant in Hackney. THANK YOU SO MUCH LUCY! That made my day, wasn't looking forward to today until now. It seems like they're my people, but I have a question for you. This info differs a bit from how the Canuck census is done. Where it says Annie is the niece, does that mean the niece of the head? And would that make Thomas her father? Or possibly her uncle? Wish I had the info on what her parent's names were, then I would know for sure. The ages certainly match, and it would be about the time that Walter would have gone to India on a mission with the Sally Ann. Thanks again Lucy, this has really opened up the past for me. Any rellies you have in Canada I'd be more than happy to suss them out for you.

Emma

Emma Report 25 Sep 2003 14:52

Amanda, Normally "niece" would refer to the relationship to the head of the household, but you know what it's like you can never be sure! Thomas Toft is "single" in the census so whether he's Annie's father is unclear. If it helps I can type up a list of the "Tofts" in the area - there aren't many and it may help in your search. Have you looked on the Freebmd site? There is a birth record on there for Annie Louise Toft born 1876 Aston Warwickshire.

Hi Lucy. Thanks for looking but the one I'm after would have been 43ish. On the 1881 census she had a son William 10 and a daughter Amelia 5. Would you be kind enough to try again please. I'm desperate to know if there was another daughter. Thanks. Yvonne

Hi Lucy! Actually I don't know about the Freebmd site, what is it? Whoa! If I cut out here it's because there's a big lightning storm. I'd love to see that birth cert if I can. If you can look up the Tofts that would be of great help to me! Thanks again, better get on to the Coronation St site before the storm cuts me out. Just found out Roy gets Tracy preggers. Unbelieveable!!!

Hi Amanda, The freebmd site is freebmd(.)rootsweb(.)com (no www) - it's a free site which is putting the birth marriage and death indexes on line. Once you find your index you can send off for the cert. from ONS.
