Many thanks to Lesley, Janet, Joanne and Raymond for your kind words and advice re. tracing pre. 1837. I'm going to have to take a deep breath, find a babysitter for the children, pack my sarnies and camp out at the Family Records Office, then tell my husband that I'm off for a two week holiday on my own and trawl the churches and graveyards across the country!! ha, ha. Yes it is a lot harder than I thought, but I won't give up that easily. At least it keeps the old brain cells working. Many thanks again. PS. I think Catherine Butterworth may have hit on a good idea; advertising to sell cheaply any certificates one buys which turn out to be the wrong ones. I have at least four myself. Perhaps Genes would set up a special board for the purpose!! Suzanne Orpington Kent
