I'm just getting started with my family tree and am very new to genealogy. To date with a little research and some help from my dad who had made some tentative research I have traced my family back to a Great Great Great Grandfather in 1835. However, info for my Great Great Grandfather (1858) and beyond is quite vague. What is a good place to start (web sites) to try and firm up details of these and their siblings, wives and even go beyond and find GGGGGrandfather. I've gone to some sites and find the majority pay per view. I don't mind doing this but would rather pay for the better sites rather than paying for something which would be of little use. I've tried signing up to 1837online but it always seems to be not working! Am I doing the right thing? Where do I go from here? Any suggestions would be most gratefully received. Thanks
