Monica Chiles Thanks for your useful advice. I have been on the familysearch site but only used it for 1881 census so I will investigate the other possibilities. I have found the Northwich record and will check with the Register Office, however, I haven't seen the Lufbra one. (Do you think that might be Loughborough?). Edward was married in Manchester and I've traced his wife, Eliza Duffy and obtained her birth cert. Thanks again. Lynne
