I sent off for a birth certificate to find a mothers maiden name, the problem is the surname is very strange, here is a zoom in on it

The person who has wrote this curles the "l"s at the end of other words so I think the surname is Tempill nor Tempilly

The problem is there is no Tempill where she is from (Wentworth, Yorkshire) and nearly no Tempill in any census at all, so I think it is miss-spelt. Also if you look closely something (maybe initials) is written underneath. Does this mean anything?

What surname do you think it might be?

Her first name is Eliza, can anybody find any info at all of an Eliza Tempill or Eliza Tempil? (born in c1881), married a James Benton c1803. (I have her on census married as Eliza Benton)

Any help would be greatly appretiated.

Could it be Timpilly or Tanpilly?

What date is the birth certificate and whose is it? Can you just confirm the dates as you say she was born 1881 but married someone born 1803?

Yeah sorry guys 1811, you both got her. I find her when she's married as Benton, but nothing for Tempill, Temple, Tempil, Tempilly ahhhh

James Benton was 1803, I don't know when they married but sometime just before 1845 as that is when there firstborn was born.

Daughter Rhoda/Rodah married a John Clothier in 1865 but I can't find her before 1861.

reggie I think she was, I haven't found any siblings, then again I haven't found her parents marriage, so if it pre-dated 1837 that would mean they went at least 8 yeas before having her so i just don't know

Did they have any other children?

If so, why not try sending for the bc for one of those in the hope that it hs better handwriting??

sylvia, maybe they didn't marry, I have looked for any surnames in Wentworth which look/sound like even remotely like tempil and there are none there
