Teresa With Irish Blood in Me Veins Report 1 Oct 2007 20:55

Hi Brian

Without knowing where in Cork your McCarthy family came from it's going to be very difficult to pin down any reliable information.

I've looked at the IGI records on the www.familysearch.org/ website and there are hundreds of records for Dennis & Jermiah McCarthy in Cork.

If you know where and when Jerimiah married you might be able to trace his mother's name in the Parish records as they often record the parents names of the bride and groom....or you might find the marriage in the IGI records.

Thanks teresa
I have Jeremiahs marriage certificate, thats where we got Denis from. I don't know anymore than "Cork" as a place of origin. We've spent forever looking with no look at all. It seems Denis and Jeremiah McCarthy are common names in Cork. I think we may have a look at his marriage in Parish records in Durham. Thanks anyway!!

Susan Baxter born 1849 c

Hazelton Spence born 1859c

They were both born in Ireland Co Tyrone???

I do know they married in Glasgow 31-01-1879.. and then they went on to have 2 kids (that i know of)

Mary Jane born 1880 and Richard 1882.

Can anyone help me confirm if they were born in Tyrone and exactly when?

The only other help i have is Hazeltons parents were John Spence and Mary Hazelton who were married 27 march 1856 in Dungannon, Tyrone(i think!!)..

Thanks

Carol
