English Bob Report 6 Mar 2008 17:13

Late night for you then... I was akip!........

Hello Mike safely downloaded and printed. Thank you again....but if you get a couple of minutes, take a look at The 1823 Martha scan....is there not another Cooke? .... Eliza at entry no:1924, I can't make it out completely.

It certainly doesn't show up on the IGI

Best regard, Bob

MaryfromItaly Report 6 Mar 2008 14:04

I think I may have found Margaret on the censuses, sometimes mistranscribed as Addison or Haddison; her birthplace is shown as Ilkeston, which is about 10 miles from Basford. She was a schoolteacher.

Does this sound like the right person?

MaryfromItaly

MaryfromItaly Report 6 Mar 2008 13:08

Here's Henry's birth:

Births Jun 1878
Nunn Henry Ernest Basford 7b 173

I can't find Margaret's, but I think this must be her, mistranscribed as Hodgkin, because the only other Margaret Agnes born in Notts about the right time had the surname Chambers, and was born in Southwell. Unfortunately the original image is typewritten.

Births Jun 1877
Hodgkin Margaret Agnes Basford 7b 135

MaryfromItaly

MaryfromItaly Report 6 Mar 2008 12:43

Other possible children (assuming they were born in Basford):

Births Jun 1908
Nunn Margaret Mary Basford 7b 257
Births Mar 1910
NUNN Herbert John Basford 7b 227
Births Jun 1910
NUNN Leslie Sylvester W Basford 7b 319

MaryfromItaly

MaryfromItaly Report 6 Mar 2008 12:40

Is this their marriage and Terry's birth?

Marriages Sep 1907
HADICAN Margaret Agnes Basford 7b 424
NUNN Henry Ernest J Basford 7b 424

Births Sep 1915
Nunn Terence H / mmn Hadican / Basford 7b 428

DO NOT start until 1860.

I did trawl St. Margaret’s Parish Church Baptism Registers 1838. ~42.
But drew a blank for your Louisa Tomkins Daughter of a Ann. Tomkins.

So that has eliminated St. Margaret’s then.
I’ll checkout other Parishes next time I go to the Record Office …..

Thanks Mike - I don't think the son remembers their ages, but I'll ask.

I was hoping this might be something you could find easily on your discs, but evidently not. If it means a long trawl through the Record Office, don't worry about it, because I have no idea which church they'd have been baptised at.

Yes, I'd found the burials of the others, thanks.
