This question has been going on for 20 years that I know of Joy, but they still haven't changed anything........when I asked about it, I was told that the testing had been done on lab rats, and a human would have to take a ton of the stuff to cause the same effect........so that is how they explain it away..... |

Years ago, one night I was at work, when I got back ex told me, never buy the kids anything sugar free or diet foods. He had been watching a program, Panarama or it might have been World in Action. All about artificial sweetners. They were banned in most states in USA as lab tests on rats had proved it gave them brain cancers. The same tests had taken place in Britan with no results in brain cancers. But it was leaked that in fact the rats had contracted these cancers, died and were replaced with new rats but given the same numbers of the dead rats so it looked as though they hadn't got the brain cancers. To this day I have never bought anything with reduced sugar in it or anything labelled diet. Another thing I read a good few years ago in a daily newspaper was a reader informing the editor that they had had their children's Smarties confiscated at the airport in the USA, as the food colouring for the red Smartie was not legal there. shirley. |

I tend to avoid aspartame too, because I have narrowed it down as one of the things that causes my migraines. Anyone who is prone to getting migraine take note! |
