Its sometime now my darling since I wrote a verse for you, But it does,nt mean I,ve ceased to care for you know well I do. I,ve written so much in the past that I love and miss you so,and remember well our lovely life Ere the call for you to go. Our Conversations come to mind,Our gentle time together, and especially at this time of year of the Forest and the Heather. So Wonderful you were my love, So beautiful your charms, and the Happiest moments of my life were surely in your arms. So if I don,t write Oft these days since the words have all been said, not once, but many times,I,ll think of you instead. For thoughts are living things wer,re told so mine will come to you and you will feel my warmth and love which I do here renew. As long as I draw breath my love, Know never will there be,Anyone else to Share my Life, There,s only you for me. <3.

Once again I have read through this thread. I think we should all take part in keeping this alive by nudging and adding any poems etc that may give or has given solace and comfort to the bereaved.

I have a few tucked away in my remembrance box, this was started when my dear grandfather died, then my grandma, my bother who died when just a few hrs old and so on.

We never forget our loved ones, for they in some small way leave a Mark on us. The pain of loss is natural, remembrance reminds us of good and bad times, some of us are believers of another place for us when we die, others may believe that there is only here. It doesn't really matter what we believe, the pain and sorrow is the same and we try to support each other.

Nudging this for Joeva. I don't know why I didn't do it at the time of the first thread about your sad loss of your daughter Sarah, Joeva, but maybe the verses will help you find a little comfort and you can shed tears over them, to let your emotions out.

Helen, that sounds a lovely thing to do for your late father in law. I hope the weather stays dry for you to be able to spend time there comfortably and that you have found something to read that feels appropriate.

Nudging up as I wanted to find something to read later today when we inter my father in laws ashes in a woodland walk at the cemetary. We have brought a tree stump on the walk and are placing his ashes there.

Nn, I am glad you had such a good stepfather, bless him for being so good to you both.

That headstone verse is a reminder of something we all have to face one day!

I remember seeing this on a headstone some years ago. I can't remember where, but it has always stuck in my mind.

Remember me as you pass by,
As you are now, so once was I,
As I am now, you soon will be,
Prepare for death,
and think of me.

Rather sombre, but certainly thought provoking!

I was liz,in fact it moved me to tears, but there you go, we were one family among so many. Things were very tough for us until my mother met and married my Step-father when I was 4; He was a wonderful man, and a fabulous father to me. The only sadness for them was that they didn't have any children, but in spite of that he made us both very happy, and the day they met was certainly our lucky day !

nigglynellie,

You must have been very touched by the words on the photo especially given the circumstances of your Father's death and then your birth. How hard things must have been for your poor Mum.

I found this quotation written by my mother on the back of a photo of my father which I found very moving:

Bill, Oct 1942.

'For life is eternal,
and love is immortal,
and death is only a horizon,
and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight.

My father was killed two months after this was written, I was born 5 weeks after that.
