For the past week my hubby and I saw a stray cat hiding under a car..scrawny litttle thing..a bit wary of us initially..each evening we gave her food and water..she was hiding under cars and that was her time gone used to us..anyway..rang shelters..all to cut a long story short..she is now lying on our sofa sleeping for England!..She has made herself at home. We have named her "Geordie" she is black and white..(Newcastle strip!)..We have a suspiscion she may have "caught"..anyone know any early signs of pregnancy in cats...?..ta.x

Maybe if you took her to the vet tomorrow he could do something if she is only just pregnant?
He could also probably tell you if she is or isn't anyway and advise you on how to build her up, poor little thing. So glad she found you, I was adopted by a cat around 6 months old, in 1982 when I was quite pregnant myself, and already had two cats. Couldn't find her owner altho she was well fed and looked after so kept her and she was a gem, such a beautiful cat altho always small. Had to have her put to sleep early in 1998, my last cat to go and then on May 26th that year I lost my lovely dog, Daisy, so no more pets.
When I get back to my house, will probably get a couple of cats again, I have missed them all so much.

yes, Im going to ring vets 2morrow..I already have a cat (from shelter)..and a kitten of 10 months..thats why I tried the shelter but alas no room at the inn..We just couldnt let her fend for herself anymore..she looks like she is a year old. Cats are lovely to have around..boy dont they sleep!..Do get some more is heartbreaking when they go..but there are so many cats out there that need good homes. I hate to see animals suffering or starving due to human neglect and need for it.. Dotxx

Hi Dot, sorry I didn't get back to you before.
Where I am living at the mo is not the place for cats but as soon as I can I will be taking on some more, I miss having pets around but my o.h. is not a pet person - long story.
Hope you get on ok at vets tomorrow and new little puss is fine.

Hello Dot, I've just popped on briefly. Hope little lady is OK this morning. Vet will probably want to give her tests to eliminate various nasties (why am I saying this, you probably know anyway! lol). Good luck, and keep us posted, eh.
Take care.

Hi Dot

We're in a similar position. We've seen one sheltering under local cars. She's now started coming in our garden - my cat's aren't too happy - and I've been feeding her. Cat's looks quite young and is very nervous. Trying to build up a bit of trust, and get her in the house. Then I'll get her down the vets and scanned to see if she has been chipped. If not, looks like we'll have another one too! AL

Some people have a kitten and then dont like looking after them. It is such a pity,
My cousin had a cat like this keep coming in, and it belonged to the people across the road, when my cousin moved, she went and asked the people across the road if she could take the cat with her. They were only too glad to get rid of her.
She has now lived happily with my cousin for a number of years, and is a great comfort to my cousin.

Wish Dot would let us know how the cat is now.

Jean Report 16 May 2008 16:01

we had a stray cat move in 2yrs ago, one of our other cats fetched him home, found him hiding under my bed one day. he was in a right sorry state, needless to say we kept him and had him sorted out at the vets.

Vanessa Report 26 Jul 2008 13:35

~~Hi Vanessa...We took the cat Geordie to the vets..(she had we she had an op..including sterilisation)..
We had 2 cats wasnt feesable in keeping her..(though I really wanted to..)
So my Hubbys mum has her now..whom adores her.keeps her company..and given her a new lease of life..Incidently..this is up near Newcastle! Geordie quite apt!.

Teddys Girl Report 26 Jul 2008 14:10

How lovely that Geordie as found a lovely home with your mil, and how sensible you were to have her have an op, and steralized.

Our old boy was a stray in our garden 14 years ago, and we took him in and love him to bits.

*Ophelia.taking a break..* Report 26 Jul 2008 14:38

~~When my m.i.l..rings up now..she doesnt talk about her aching back..or ailments..She rings up talking about what Geordie has been up to..whether its knocking off ornaments..or destroying her sofa..but says she wouldnt be without her..and She is so much happier having company.
I love cats...and hate seeing them abused..

Dot, that's so good, the cat has a good home and your m.i.l has a new interest in life and company, a great result.
