Hi, Can anyone please advise if there is a way of finding out if people are still members or not.

Although I have recieved a few replys from very helpful members concerning matches in their trees , quite a few people never reply.

I realise that some, if no match, simple ignore my request, but maybe others are no longer members.

Any advice will be most welcome.

And a big thankyou to all of you who have assisted this geriatric , non computer literate newish member.

i think some people start their trees

and maybe lose interest

and just forget to log in

and check their accounts

right click or hover over the name you can find their membership number and request GR if that is an active member. Sadly members dont carry on very long and if they change their server dont always leave a forwarding address. So their tree is still on the site but not contactable.

I have one with 40 family members on her tree but never been in touch,

Hi maybe some don't go on computer very much, or they're not into tree building like you,or maybe they have something to hide!!!!!
I know i've had some misses, the trick is don't let them see your tree unless they give you some info, that they can be trusted and not take info from you and scarper.

I have had a few matches that have not replied & find this very frustrating. I always do even if there is not a match. Did post on a thread the other day that thought it would be a good idea if GR colud flag up if the account has closed. Was told that even if the account is closed they still send the request to the email address. Perhaps the flag could say 'Account close/ Inactive for????? months' at least we would not get our hopes up of a reply

just a thought
