Hello,

I am wondering if anyone has had any experience of student volunteer projects, or know of any which have been particularly good.

I hope you all have lots of suggestions.

Thanks

Hi,
my son spent a couple of months in Thailand helping the Hill Tribe people build a school.
He went with "Madventure" and had a wonderful experience. He did have to pay to go but it was worth it.
Do you fancy anything in particular or are you just trying to get ideas?

Hi Helen

I am just trying to get ideas at the moment. I am thinking about teaching english as I am studying to become a teacher, but I am also interested in conservation and the environment.

I would love to go to Australia and New Zealand, but think that would be something more suited to going on a holiday (although I think you can do conservation volunteering out there).

I will look at the website you suggested.

Thanks

no-one?

I know I am not a regular poster on these boards but I was hoping a few more people would have some suggestions or some knowledge.

It seems to be rather quiet tonight.

Perhaps someone could nudge this for you in the daytime tomorrow.

...Sorry, we have an 'interuption of power supply ' tomorrow, so I can't do that.

Well, what about Camp America - ok, its not about conservation but you could teach English :) Ive know several people who went on to be teachers doing these camps as it helps with communication with youngsters., organising activities, looking after welfare and of course taking part in lots of the activities yourself and you get weeks off at the end of the camp to travel with the new mates youve made from all over the world PLUS you get paid pocket money. Actually they seem to be worldwide now:.

Try the Wargraves Commission. They used to have some fantastic projects across Europe but I'm not sure whether they still do.
