same with me Daff - best of luck to the phlebotomist - I always look at them with a certain degree of pity when they're faced with me - no veins to speak of!!

Good luck Daff (I am the same, my veins hide then collapse..ha ha). I go to see my nurse every two weeks for bloods.

Tell her when she starts to crochet your vein you would like a nice bolero jacket for the grandchild!

Pmsl you lot!!

I am back,, with multiple holes in my arms!! She managed to get half of what she needed and then I clammed up and wouldn't let her have any more... I have prescribed a lie down in a darkened room for her, lol!!

Hopefully there will be just enough for her to get the tests I need... and then with a bit of luck I can start new meds that'll make me feel better, lol... see them pigs flying???

Off to B & Q now to pick up my kitchen worktops. And some other bits and pieces, lol!

when I suffered one of my numerous miscarriages and had lost a lot of blood, it made matters worse - they went up and down each arm, and every hole they made spurted blood when they tied the rubber band round for the next - looked like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre - trying the last one on my arms she said, if we don't get it this time we'll have to start on your feet!!! thankfully she was successful on the last arm shot!!

Daff sounds like me but you are definitely worse.
Glad its over for you watch the holes though when you dronk might leak out of them.

Ann
when i was expecting first they had trouble and had heat lamps on me to bring veins out and even heated up my feet as tey said they were going to try them as well, thankfully it came out in end without using feet

Hiya Susan.. I am pretty good about it, so that is a positive!!

Dawn when they were taking blood for the compatibility tests for my brother they needed loads... they had to phone the transplant place and ask if they could send it off in a couple of batches, lol I had to go back 3 times, what a palaver, poor woman.

When I was younger, I had blood taken every weekday for almost two months on my second child.... there was never ever a problem, it just seems to be the last couple of years, probably all this blubber!

Poor girl... if the tests come back as I suspect and hope, she will have to be taking blood quite regularly from me for a while, lol!!

I have the same probs. Dr told me to go into surgery 15 mins earlier - I have to put my hands in a bowl of hot water -so he can take blood from hands!!!!!

When I was having hospital at home treatment they had to fit a canula (sp) experienced nurses could not find a vein - so had to go into hospital for the fitting -oh what fun - not. They said I looked extremely grey - I was not surprised!

Also have trouble with these new fangled electronic blood pressure machines - they do not suit me and Dr can never get a reading - it always stops. When it does on a very *blue moon* occasion work - shows blood pressure so high Dr said I would be dead if it was like that and pulse reading is normal!

He says if he writes a book on medical mysteries etc I am going to be in it! LOL

I do wonder if I am really alive you know PMSL!

lol Tina..... I don't register with those new fangled BP machines either.... and they often have a problem with the old style as well.... it tends to be very faint, but very high (without meds, that is).

Also the best place to get blood from me is in the crook of my right elbow where the vessel goes sideways not downwards, lol!! If they don't listen to me, I have a bruise the size of Wales where they've gone in one side and straight out the other ;¬))

The nurses that came tried putting a needle in and took it out and it was bent -she said look what your vein has done to the needle - she said we dont see that very often - well how I did not faint I dont know -I dont need to see a bent needle with me blood on it.

*feeling faint at the thought*
