Did the islands two years ago Gemeni when staying in Scotland really enjoyed the ferry hopping and the interesting islands but was dissapointed there were no Aran wool mills or the like to get some genuine Aran wool, but going to the distillery made up for this!

Hi May .
Aye ! ,
there's no arran wool mills on Arran :-(( but I saw some wool on Isle of Iona in a shop ..£2.98 for 50 grm ...whew !!
I did love the ferry crossings.
We saw a black seal on the ferry ramp as we were waiting for the ferry to Iona , it kept honking for fish from a inshore fishing boat in which I gather it knew the fishing men...they did give him/her a good helping of fish ...It was a wonderful sight to watch .

Mara ,
Is it just the borders you want to go to ?.
"Abbottsford House "..open to public ..it was once owned by Sir Walter Scott .
Melrose is a lovely tiny village with a ruined Abbey , Robert the Bruce's heart is buried there.

Aran distillery is very nice have their own whiskey as well as many others, can do a tour very interesting and they have a wee tasting as well of whatever you choose, could get quite tipsey, lovely grounds to picnic, tour bus took us and dropped us off then picked us up again in time for ferry back to mainland.

Hi Mara ,
I will get my OH to look thru all the leaflets we have as he's a mountaineer and he knows Scotland like the back of his hand ! LOL and I will put them on this board ...by the way , there's a William Wallace Monument in Stirling , it's worth a visit ..you can walk up, go up a flight of steps or get a bus ride up .

Shimmer, as i've said before, I'm gathering ideas at the moment. Then, hopefully, I can find several places that interest me and visit them, either from a central base, or move around. Still in the early stages.
