Hi
can anyone fill me in about gedcom ? its been suggested to me that I save my tree to gedcom but I dont really know much about it.

GEDCOM, an acronym for GEnealogical Data COMmunication, is a specification for exchanging genealogical data between different genealogy software.

In other words, it's a way of keeping your tree on your own computer as apposed to GR's.

I would suggest that everyone keeps their tree on a Gedcom just in case the unthinkable happens & all your hard work is lost. I would also say, be careful if anyone asks you to send them your tree in Gedcom format.
