Hi Sue... yes, that explains a lot!! My mum is AB neg.... of all her children, only my blood can be given to her in an emergency. (O neg) Her blood was like gold dust... she still has her green card. I know that some of her blood was given to the mother of twin babies in either Jersey or Gurnsey when I was a youngster, and the mother of those babies had also donated blood to my mum after the birth of my youngest sister. I remember her saying that there were only 6 on the register in all of Britain... that was in the 1960's. |

I had to laugh when I was in hospital pregnant.......the lady who took the bloods came round, we called her Dracula, and there was this one girl who kept batting on about being this rare blood group.....? negative...... |

Sounds like I must have really common blood, too, Kay - I'm O positive as well. (I'm sure I read somewhere - don't know if it's correct or not - that before the Normans/Vikings/Saxons etc invaded Britain, every one of the ancient British people here had type O blood, so that must mean I have a long line of very British ancestors to locate!) |
