I had to laugh when I was in hospital pregnant.......the lady who took the bloods came round, we called her Dracula, and there was this one girl who kept batting on about being this rare blood group.....? negative......

It turned out that most of us had negative groups in that ward, she shut up then.....

......and yes, I was issued with a green card with a red stripe down the middle......B neg anti D....

Hi Sue... yes, that explains a lot!! My mum is AB neg.... of all her children, only my blood can be given to her in an emergency. (O neg) Her blood was like gold dust... she still has her green card. I know that some of her blood was given to the mother of twin babies in either Jersey or Gurnsey when I was a youngster, and the mother of those babies had also donated blood to my mum after the birth of my youngest sister. I remember her saying that there were only 6 on the register in all of Britain... that was in the 1960's.

My Husband is AA pos... it was pointed out to us that we would not have been able to marry in some states in America at the time, as they were incompatible.... I have often wondered what that meant, lol!

Love

Danielle Marie, thank you for that, i have bookmarked this for interest.

I was given a green card when i had my daughter in 1961, still have it somewhere albeit a bit tattered and torn.
