Here are a few tips for you all:

Potatoes and cauliflower sometimes turn brown when boiling. Make sure white vegetables stay white by squeezing a teaspoon of fresh lemon juice into the cooking water.

Remove super-glue from fingers, spray WD-40 directly onto the fingers and then run our hands together until the fingers no longer feel sticky.

Remove paint fumes. Place a couple of shallow dishes filled with undiluted vinegar around a freshly painted room to quickly get rid of the smell of paint.

Clear away crayon stains. Remove crayon marks for childrens clothing by rubbing them with a recycled toothbrush soaked in undiluted vinegar before you put them in the washing machine.

Try cleaning the windows with rainwater, if you have a waterbutt. There are less chemicals than tap water, so doesn't leave a residue.

Also, when washing the car, use a bucket of rainwater thrown over the car for the final rinse, drive a short distance to blow off the remains. That saves using a chamois leather to finish it off.

If anyone fancies trying these tips - I have numerous dirty windows and a very dusty car which need cleaning. You are more than welcome to try the solution.

When washing your windows, do so with warm water into which vinegar is added. This keeps them smear free. I have tried this myself and know that it works.

You don't need much vinegar, if you are using warm water, just a tablespoon in half a bucket.

I would stress your word 'warm'. Whatever you do, don't have it too hot! I know to my cost. We had new double glazing and a short time later started to clean the very large single pane in our lounge window. I obviously had the water too warm on a frosty day and as I put the sponge to the top corner of the pane, 'ping' and the inner layer cracked! It was a very expensive mistake - the crack progressed down the pane as the local chap came to give me an quote for the new glass!
