Sorry its something you allow by giving others your sole permission to view, doesnt matter how many years or time you have spent going it,

If any have living relatives you are soley responsible for safe guarding their details if youve been given permissionto include them.

But as you say sad why details none relevant information that has bee n added with blood no link at all,?
Go with caution,

I don't mind people copying my tree. What annoys me the most is when people don't ask and just copy. It has happened to me once. We now have 96 names which hot match. They even copied parts of the tree that weren't quite relevant. If they had asked me I would have said yes. But because they didn't it's annoyed me. Just because you give people access doesn't mean they should have a right to copy. Probably get stick for this.

Unfortunately this type of thread appears about once a week.

By giving someone access to your tree, you are giving permission for them to copy the lot & as you say they then pass on your infomation from person to person.

The only way that I've found around this is to send a genealogy report from my Family Tree Maker instead of opening my tree.

I am really fed up with people I have no contact with coming up on hot matches with practically the whole of my tree which I have spent years building up. The only way that this can have happened is by me allowing others to view my tree only for them to upload it and then allow others to do the same.People who are related should confine themselves to the relevant parts of the tree and not the whole thing!
