Cumbrian Caz~**~ Report 26 Jun 2008 21:23

Today we me the Queen, didnt just see her several times but as she left she came straight to Graeme out of lots of people and talked to me and kids.

Bad point was it was raining torrentially and we waited outside for 40 mins to get a photo shoot off her with the colour parties. I was soaked to the skin, hair bedraggled, as were kids.

We went back to the marquee to try and dry off and get kids changed, hubbie wasnt too wet in his wool no 1 dress.

Then we got the call that she was leaving and we were for line her route out. We were right at the front and got a blanket to wrap around kids but i was still doing a very good impression of something very drowned and bedraggled!

HM spoke to cadets and the walked along, simply smiling at most people, them made a bee line for us.She said to kids, 'you must be very cold, it was so kind of you to wait and see me'

And to a stunned , but for once speechless hubbie she said 'Im glad it stayed clear for the parade but its awful now, well done to you all'

Hubbie replied

' thankyou ma'am, it is rather nasty now isnt it?'

He was ga, ga but high as a kite after!!

yes Ann, the weather did spoil it a bit, it meant the marquees were heaving, we lost one of kids and Mum and Dad for when we met Queen,

Gwyn, I am, he looked wonderful.

Tina I have 2 very close ones of HRH, will get them on site at weekend

Something you'll always remember Caz. Shame about the weather though.

Haven't met the Queen myself, but saw Prince Charles when he opened our local library in the 80s. Also seen Prince Phillip when my daughter was presented with her Duke of Edinburgh Gold award.
