Whilst I appreciate the Queen & Buck Pal are great tourist attractions and alot of income comes in as a result of all that, I honestly believe it is now time for the Queen and her family to start paying their own way. In particular Air Miles Andy, gets right up my hooter, what does he do exactly? Clocks up unnecessary flights at the taxpayers' expense - and using his role as a trade ambassador to hit the ski slopes and golf courses.

He also used a private Citation II jet for a golfing break in Scotland in 2006
for us?

I would like, as a tax payer, to see my money spent elsewhere, like on cancer patients who have to go to court to try to get life saving drugs for example...

sorry, don't mean to offend, just my opinion:)

Don't the poor the ill and the dying already receive more than enough from us beleaguered tax payers? The NHS and Social security costs alone account for more than half of what we pay in our taxes. So an extra 66 p wouldn't even register.

The 10% tax fiasco alone is costing us £200 a head.

People want just taxes more than they want lower taxes.

I don't mind paying 66p in the slightest.............as Lesley says we would have to pay at least that much to maintain the buildings anyway.

I hate the thought of having a president..............can you imagine what Cheri would have been like if she really had been the first lady??

I can't help thinking that would actually end up costing us more....................where politicians are involved, public money becomes their own private piggy bank to raid as often as possible.

Dermot................I couldn't stand the way she used her position as wife of the prime minister for her own ends.

She has made a fortune out of it and had free board and lodgings all the time she was the prime ministers wife..............no other wife/husband of a serving PM was as crass and grabbing as her.

If such a wise man as Winston Churchill thought the Queen was worth having , I will do so too. He had an American mother but he was British through and through. I will emigrate if we ever get a Presidency. They are indeed a waste of money. I live on a pension and am not in such a bad way that I cannot afford the cost of her Majesty. I cant afford the cost of a footballer at todays prices! Jean

Thats my point Jean, the Queen gives so much to this country. Other countries envy the fact that we have had such a wonderful monarch,

I will gladly give my 66p tax a year, its only part of many areas our taxes cover .....wars, immigration, benefit cheats,MPS who are very greedy, ridiculous oil prices inflated by tax....
